Meet the Staff

My name is Sophia Clegg and I am head of The Silver Lining
Academy of Performance. I have been teaching since I was
15 years old and have been performing all my life. I primarily
teach dance and drama at the academy. I currently study
Drama and Creative writing at the University of Salford,
alongside running the school. I am very excited to finally
have my own school as it has been a dream of mine for a
long time, I just never realised I would open at such a young
age. My youth doesn’t make me inexperienced though as
I’ve been well taught in all performance areas and have
been teaching myself for a very long time. My teaching
methods include getting involved with the kids and leading
them by showing them, rather than just telling them. I
personally think the best way children can learn is through
having fun and making work feel like play, it’s a method I have found very receptive with kids in the past and also one that worked very well for me as a pupil.

My name is Becca and I am a dance teacher here at Silver
Lining Academy of Performance. I have had an interest in
dance and musical theatre since I was young and have
dreamed of being a musical theatre performer for as long as
I can remember. I have been training in all 3 disciplines of
Musical Theatre for 15 years and currently I am training at
Pendleton School of Theatre on the HNC course. In addition to
this I have completed the B-Tech Musical Theatre course at
Pendleton as well. I aspire to go to drama school and further
my training in the performing arts. I am excited to pass
on my knowledge and skills that I have learnt throughout
my years of training onto young students who also share
my passion for the arts. I believe that hard work, dedication
and discipline are very important when studying the
performing arts but that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun too! I strive to create a fun, positive and enjoyable atmosphere during my lessons whilst also blossoming my students into hard working, strong, confident and disciplined performers.
